Located on Huntington drive in Monrovia, CA, this piece is derived from ancient stone dolmens found worldwide. Like many of them, it is oriented to sunrise/sunset positions of the solar cycle on the local horizon. It also references the primary geometric shapes found in architecture and used symbolically in various belief systems. Shapes relating to the “holes” in elements of the central triad, such as the solid disk in the background, indicate solar altitudes and other alignments. See details.
